Pretty Pleas and The Fabulous Danes im Kramladen

Pretty Pleas and The Fabulous Danes are two Viennese bands playing different but complementary styles of music.

Pretty Pleas are a Viennese quartet playing what the members themselves call „Moody Art Rock“, a mixture of influences from melodic rock n roll and psychedelia to punk, new wave that blend into a singular modern sound. Formed in late 2019 by American singer songwriter Daniel Smith and bassist George Clavicle, the two began searching for other members when they came across organist Reinhard Danzinger and recently added drummer B.B. Kong to complete their line up. Pretty Pleas will be releasing their debut ep in early 2023 and will be playing in and around Austria and Central Europe throughout 2022-2023.

The Fabulous Danes
heißen nicht etwa so, weil sie aus Kopenhagen stammen, sondern weil die Band 2006 in der Dänenstraße (in Wien!) gegründet wurde, genauer auf Hausnummer 4, wo sich einst das legendäre „Beisl“ der Uni für Bodenkultur befand. Dort wurde bei ein paar Krügeln „Ottakringer“ das musikalische Fundament aus Rhythm & Blues, Garage Punk und Pub Rock gezimmert, das den Sound der Band bis heute prägt – und der fährt punktgenau an der Mod/Rocker-Schnittstelle in die Glieder. Hier drehen die fabelhaften Dänen ihre Amps gern noch ein bisschen lauter und das Schlagzeug stampft noch eine Spur räudiger dahin.
Die Einflüsse der „Dänen“ reichen zurück bis Muddy Waters (I Got My Mojo Working), Howlin‘ Wolf (Three Hundred Pounds of Joy) oder Larry Williams (Slow Down), und sie enden irgendwo beim exzessiven Instro-Sound von Link Wray (The Black Widow) und Lonnie Mack (Wham!).

The Fabulous Danes verknüpfen die schnörkellose Essenz des Rock & Roll mit maximum Rhythm & Blues und sie sind wild entschlossen, ihre kompromisslose Attacke auch in Deinem Club in Richtung Tanzboden abzufeuern … nachdem sie ihre Krawatten gerichtet haben.
